I’m Rachael and here’s my story that’s still ongoing.
Growing up with a non-verbal special-needs brother taught me to listen for what people could not easily say.
When I reviewed my own family’s finances in 2017, I saw the difference between having financial products and having a plan. My parents had solutions from different places, but no shared view of how those pieces supported their priorities – especially my brother’s long-term care.
No one had asked them: what do you actually want your life to look like? or Out of 10 things, which were most important?
I remember the sense of confusion, helplessness and regret my parents went through, knowing my brother’s long-term financial care would likely fall to the last option they wanted – me. Especially when we were their highest priorities they had given their lives and worked hard for.
That experience taught me that unbiased advice is needed before solutions. It has also shaped the advisory process I bring to every client – that quality advice begins with honest and sometimes hard but necessary questions. It then builds the financial plan around the life and people it must serve.
Nearly a decade in this practice, I thought things would have evolved and focused more on quality advice by now.
Client after client, I spot that same thread – investments and policies accumulated over time without a coherent plan brought more confusion than clarity.
To be fair, I think what ‘quality advice’ is has also evolved and is still evolving for me as I grow in my practice.
I write more about them on my Instagram @alignwithrae. Follow along if you care about aligning your finances with the life you value, if you believe that ignorance isn’t bliss, if you’d like to grow with me (I am not perfect), or if you’re simply curious and interested.

There is no pressure to proceed. Either of us can say no at any point. Either way, you’ll leave with greater clarity than you came with.
